Dave's hot rod as it was built....
I scratch built the frame. Everything is still in mock up at this stage. I designed the front end and built the suspension for the air ride, so it will put it on the ground!
Big Willwoods frt and rear brakes. Made to stop it at 160 mph.
The rear is 9" ford with Strange center section, funny car studs, pro stock four link, sway bars frt and rear. Burning rubber has a nice smell.
With the bags down she almost sits low enough. Like my son says "never too low"
Just showing the rear. The gas tank sits inside the frame, for lots of trunk room.
The motor is a Big Block Chevy, with a blower. It dynoed at 843 HP at only 5lbs of boost. It ain't even working hard yet!
Pic of the 2 1/2 " zoomies that I built. They are loud! I can take them apart and put in baffels if I want to (yeah right) .
Roll cage under construction
Even a nice glass body needs body work to dial in the lines
Frame ready for some molding
It gets tight when they are low and have air ride.
850 HP takes a big fuel pump and system, 5/8 fuel line.
A little color for the dash
Mocking up a scoop. I wanted something different.
I fabbed it out of aluminum.
Still striving for the "race car look".
After a lot of bodywork and block sanding, I base it in black, then added my new "Blackberry" pearl . It looks black until the sun hits it just right, then purple highlights.
Laying out the flames.....
Lots of masking
They don't look like much, until you unmask them
Pearl colors are down. One coat of clear, ready for the pinstripes.
Flames inside the hood too.
After two different clearing jobs to bury the edges, and cut and polish....it starts to look like a paint job.
It is black leather
